Invest in Natural-Looking Dental Crowns
Dental crowns have been used for generations to repair damaged teeth. The protective cap can prevent future issues or repair a tooth that is already compromised. Besides restoring its health, it will also improve your tooth’s function and appearance. Laith Family Dentistry only uses the best materials to create restorations that look and feel natural. You’ll enjoy long-lasting results to support a healthy, beautiful smile.
What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown covers the entire surface of a tooth above the gum line. Our office uses porcelain to make crowns because it is biocompatible, durable, and resembles enamel. Your tooth will be reshaped to allow the restoration to fit over it. Your crown will be bonded in place and can last for 10 years or longer with the correct care, like brushing and flossing.
Crowns are versatile and can be used for many reasons, like:
- Treating a large area of decay
- Fixing a chip or break
- Covering stains or discoloration
- Improving an abnormally-shaped tooth
- After a root canal
- To support a dental bridge
The Dental Crown Process
First, you’ll require a consultation to ensure a dental crown is right for you or your dentist may recommend one during an appointment. You can expect the process to take two appointments. During your first visit, your dentist will perform any preliminary treatments, like root canal therapy. Your tooth is then reshaped and a member of our office will take an impression of your mouth. The mold will be sent to the dental lab, where it will be crafted to fit your tooth like a glove. It can take the lab a couple of weeks, so your dentist will place a temporary restoration to protect your tooth while you wait. After your crown is sent back to our office, you’ll return to have the temporary restoration removed. Your final crown will be bonded to your tooth in a matter of minutes.
The Benefits of Getting a Dental Crown
A dental crown is a great investment because it can help you avoid tooth loss. It provides a protective barrier that’s durable to withstand the pressure of chewing, so you can maintain a nutritious diet. Your restoration will match the color, size, and shape of your natural teeth, so only a trained dental professional will know it is there. Crowns are cost-effective and successful in delivering long-term results.
